Outfit Roundup: SATC S1E3 “Bay of the Married Pigs”

We got 2 different looks for one outfit in the first scene. The short sleeve somewhat cropped striped top is a look, especially when paired with the bucket hat. I don’t know what you’re meant to wear to the Hamptons but if anyone wants to enlighten me feel free. I think both are cute.

The bucket hat! A holiday vibe, I’m jealous. 7/10
It stays solid 8/10

Next we have her sleepwear. Very 2000s with the zipped jacket and yes I am mad that I had to crop out ass from this because this is the only time that we see the full outfit.

Cuter than my pajamas. 7/10

We see all the girls together. Carrie and Charlotte wearing dresses which are a little bland not much to say. Then we have the power women in their suits. I love Samantha’s lilac blazer, it’s feminine but still professional. Miranda is wearing a plain suit, I guess she works 60+ hours a week she doesn’t have time for anything too out there.

I’m not thr nest judge here because if the angles but Charlotte and miranda tie with a 6/10. That lilac blazer gets a 9/10
What can I say – 6/10

I love the leather look from this scene. Carrie in a tan leather jacket and stone coloured top (a colour she is in a few times this episode). And Stanford is killing it with that leather hat and leather jacket.

Love both and they kind of match. Carrie 8/10. Stannie 9/10
Is it fashion or is she just skinny (I think this will actually work for all body types, kind of a staple look) – 6.5/10
Nah. 3/10

Carrie wears a pink coat twice which is actually quite pretty. I wouldn’t personally wear anything that shade but it could be way more obnoxious. I actually like it, and yes we have another bucket hat and I’m not angry.

Basic but I can’t hate it. 7/10
There’s something sinful about the hat and the jacket together but I still kinda like it. 6/10

I forgave Miranda’s last suit but this one she had time for and she decided for that. It’s pretty inoffensive but that shade of blue and red is giving me 8 year old boy at church vibes. The other look for the episode is her baseball match outfit, she’s representing Harvard because where else would she have gone? It’s obviously not hyper feminine and the reason she is suspected as a lesbian (not subtle 90s television).

That look when you find out that you aren’t a lesbian. But the church look gets a 4/10
Hey repping your uni and your running. The athleisure has evolved but I won’t be too harsh so 6/10

They look great in their dresses going to a couples party. Samantha obviously showing a little bit of chest and Charlotte very conservative with her neckline.

They all look pretty good. Carries is probably my least favourite – 6.5/10. Samantha has the correct energy for a halter so 7.5. And I I like Charlotte’s the most, the colour the fit, that’s an 8/10.

And the final scene with the girls in their coats. I want Miranda’s leather coat and that turtleneck, she stepped up in the end.

There’s something grossly nostalgic about the bandana that I want to repress so 4.5/10
Charlotte is working that turtleneck 8/10
Yes miranda, the leather jacket, the turtleneck 8.5/10

Outfit winner: Sam’s lilac blazer. I know there’s a theme as of right now for my favourites (they’ve all been some kind of workwear) but they just look the best but don’t worry the dresses get more interesting later in the series

Outfit Roundup: SATC S1E2 “Models and Mortals”

It starts on Miranda wearing a black dress on a date. The dark colours continue on her from eating in with the girls in a casual outfit and then her suit. They have been keeping her very harsh and dark for now, mirroring her personality and cynicism.

She looks good 7.5/10
Okay a suit (how original) 5/10

They are all very dressed down, something I don’t often recall them in. Even when they’re at home later in the series they wear things more dressy. Samantha is dressed very comfortably, very unlike her. Even Charlotte is dressed down, in the one scene she is in but has an argyle top which fits into her preppy high class aesthetic.

I can’t roast this too hard because I wear pajamas round the house. Sam, I like it 7/10. Miranda 4/10
Charlotte in argyle, yes. 8/10.

Samantha’s fashion show outfit was great, I love the fur rim – now thats Samantha. She has something which is more formal but still has flair. Personally I loved a checked/houndstooth pattern so love this for her. She’s fabulous

Samantha, werk it. That’s a 9/10

Finally Carrie, in a few scenes she is dressed down, such as:

Carrie with the layering, I love layering but not like this. 3/10
Totally inoffensive. 5/10

But then we see some more interesting stuff. The fashion show outfit is a black dress which I’m personally over from the pilot. But I like her double choker chain which drops down because throughout the series Carrie fails in accessories so this is a nice change. I live for her fur coat, now this is the extra-ness that I’m waiting for. In the middle of winter we would kill for that, not only the warmth but instant fashionista. Finally the ending fit is a patterned cardigan which is absolutely fine. That’s it. Fine.

The double choker dropped look is the real winner here. 8/10 purely for that. Stannie, it’s just so you, so you get a 7/10 for that
This. Jacket. Is. Everything. (But I hope its faux) 9/10
Alrighty… 5/10

Winner: Samantha’s fashion show outfit. It perfectly reflects the times but I can still look at it and like it.

Outfit Roundup SATC Pilot

As an avid binge watcher and harsh judge. I have made it my mission to give my opinions on the fits worn in Sex and the City so buckle up.

I’m glad they increased the outfit game because as a whole, I’ve got to be honest the pilot outfits were BOR-ING. In the later seasons it’s clear where the majority of the budget went (yes Carrie would never be able to afford Dior and her infamous Manolo Blahniks).

Let’s start with the opening. The pink top and white tutu combo. When I was 13 this is what I would want to dress like, it’s adorable, the colours are soft and tutus were all the rage. It denotes a childlike view point of Carrie which starkly opposes the rest of the city. I’m glad they chose this standout piece instead of the Marc Jacobs blue dress (which was the original opening idea), which is absolutely beautiful but extremely boring. The minimalistic look is not at all what Carrie is about (rather its more Charlotte). It makes her look mature and classy in comparison to the tutu where she desperately clings onto her youth and childish fantasies. I feel the blue blends in with the city, nowhere near the saturation of the chosen outfit.

The first time we actually see Carrie is the back of her. The curly hair and smoking are two traits which embody Carrie. The only part of the outfit is a leopard print top, which is one of the two leopard prints in this episode. Personally I hate leopard print but we will examine without prejudice. Leopard print is meant to be feminine and have a sexual allure, I’m guessing from having an exotic counterpart.

In the first scene of all 4 girls together, they are all wearing black. I did warn you these looks were boring. Early on they did convey each characters personality in their clothes even if we could only see the top half. Samantha being the most “exposed” by her outfit with a low cut and showing those tempting shoulders. Charlotte more conservative with short sleeves and generally more covered up. Carrie is the most fashion forward with the off the shoulder look. Finally Miranda not wearing a dress but a suit. There’s a touch of accessorising with her necklace which gives some depth.

Boring! they both get 5/10
Cuter 6/10
Too inoffensive for anything less than 6/10

One thing that slipped under the radar was the talking to the camera. I didn’t realise that this happened multiple times in the pilot. In one instance we see Carrie in an oversized blazer. I love this look, it’s fashionable without even looking like she’s trying but doesn’t fit into the aesthetic they will eventually find for Carrie. Other looks include another boring black dress, she’s looks good in it but meh it’s black. Then a black top and blue jeans. Then a low maintenance outfit to write in and eat ice cream – probably the most relatable she has been for 6 seasons.

8.5/10 I like it but couldn’t see the full look
Only because she pulls it off 7/10
Solid outfit, we all wear something like this 7.5/10
Loungewear 4/10

Miranda has suits. Does the vaguely silver shirt scream party, because if it does I want nothing to do with those events

Nice intro outfit for Miranda so 7/10
No! 3/10

Samantha wears a BLACK dress at the party. It’s backless. That’s the most interesting thing about it.

Who thought Charlotte would be my saviour. Her first scene is a muted look, very classy and upper-class, complete with a cardigan and glasses. She calls Carrie wearing a white dress, considering she’s meant to be more innocent it makes sense. Finally her date look is floor length halter almost iridescent dress. At first I hated it but the more I looked at it the more I liked it. Compared to the rest of the outfits this one had the most movement and was the most interesting.

Cute and suits Charlotte, 8/10
From what I can see this is an 8/10 for how it just suits the character
Love the holo risk 8.5/10

Outfit winner: Carries oversized blazer despite it only being used for an out of place breaking of the 4th wall
